The Host/Hostess Gift: Sierra Nevada Celebration Fresh Hop IPA. If the host is a bit of a beer drinker who’s maybe missing some of his warmer weather IPA favorites, bring a sixer of this. A good amount of crisp hoppiness, while still leaning on the malty backbone of winter ales. I look forward to this seasonal release every year… probably a little too much.
It’s Friday. Looking for something to switch up your weekend, or to give you an excuse to relax a little? That’s what the Weekend Reset is for. Each week contributor Tim Johnstone pulls together five things to get your weekend started. Could be something to read or watch, something to eat or listen to, or even something to do. Enjoy the weekend fellas. ENDURE: Don’t skip the office Holiday party. Even if Halitosis Harold from Central Services is going to be there. You need to go. Because it’s smart for your career. It is a way for you to earn points with the people that matter. Fact is, there is an excellent chance you are facing lame stereotypes about your age and this is something that will help combat those stereotypes and set you apart from the rest of the crowd. LISTEN: JD McPherson serves up a classic Christmas collection. It’s been about 6 years since McPherson released his Holiday single “Twinkle Little Christmas Light.” It quickly became a favorite for public radio and adult rock stations holiday library. Since then, he has continued to find fans for his retro roots-rock oeuvre with consistently terrific albums and great live shows. Socks is an entire album of holiday songs that just about run the gamut of complex emotions that pile up this time of year and it is all done with McPhersons wit and charm. I’ve got a December playlist on the way that will feature another song from the album but you should stream the whole thing. It will make for a great party playlist and it would make an even better Hostess Gift (keep on reading for tips on that) for your holiday party invite. WATCH: Not your typical Santa movie. First things first: This movie is not for everyone. It is a Finnish/Norwegian movie so, yeah, sub-titles. Mostly. For some, that’s just an immediate no. I maintain that you get used to it and within minutes you don’t even notice that you’re reading. So there’s that. Also, it’s a bit dark, although this is in line with some of the lore related to Saint Nick. See Krampus. And, my last warning: there are a lot of nasty old man wangs, but, and I can’t believe I’m writing this, in the context of the story, it’s really no big deal. And the little kid at the heart of the tale is so damn adorable. Did I mention it’s kind of creepy? Because it is and that is part of the charm of the movie. READ: Yes. It matters how you dress in the office.Yes, I know. This is Dappered.com. You are here because you give thought and consideration to how you dress. But maybe you aren’t sure about your particular situation or perhaps you’d like to arm yourself with fresh rebuttals to the never-asked-for-question, “why do you dress like that?” GIFT: Hostess gifts are a smart way to make sure you’re invited back.Adulting. You don’t always (ever?) get a guide. I wish someone had pulled me aside earlier in my adulthood and informed me that it is proper to bring a hostess gift to a party. Because that feeling that came with the realization that this is what you do was kind of rotten. So here I am. Nudging you. It does not have to be super fancy. It certainly doesn’t have to be a bottle of wine. There are so many options. This time of year I like to bring poinsettias or holiday bouquets. Again, the possibilities are pretty open. Tim Johnstone is Dappered’s music correspondent as well as our resident gatherer of all things interwebs related. He’s currently chasing his spirit animal. Check the fiber content of the goods. It can be hit or miss. Cotton is great, but cotton isn’t wool. And wool is great, but wool isn’t wool blend (which when done right, can be great, but when done wrong, feels like a trash bag). Just know what you’re potentially paying for. It’s our forum. Launched in 2011, Threads is a not too big, not too small, just-right-sized forum that doesn’t put up with snobbery. All thanks to the users and hardworking mods. Once a month, one of the users/mods from Threads provides us with a highlight package of the last few weeks. Do I Trust my Wife…?mebejoseph turned to forum members for advice on whether or not to trust his wife’s opinion on what clothes he should wear, specifically involving pants, since he’s soon to be 60 and doesn’t want to look like he’s trying too hard to not dress his age. Amesbury felt there was nothing wrong with the pants, Geo felt it’s most important to be comfortable in your clothes (although he indicated the pants looked great) and Hebrew Barrister said mebejoseph should trust his wife; the pants were a perfect fit. neminat confirmed what the rest of the group said – the pants looked great. shockfinder added another dimension to the conversation by suggesting mebejoseph’s wife is younger then mebejoseph (she’s in her mid forties) and has knowledge of style; so trust her! Loafer28 agreed the pants looked great, but suggested not going for a tighter fit even if mebejoseph’s wife preferred it, while Doug Chalkey kept it simple stating “Happy wife, happy life.” MediumTex brought the discussion around to why everyone reads Dappered in the first place, and what he hopes to obtain on his style journey. Paxonus shared with the members that he is in the exact same situation as mebejoseph and sympathized with his conumdrum. The overall consensus was the look works – go for it! Anyone Carry a Pocket Knife? After months of quiet the thread dedicated to carrying a pocket knife was brought back to life by Xiolar sharing his experiences. Sheepdog149 posted a photo of his knife along with his every day carry items, while carlitos shared his experience with carrying an Opinal #5, indicating the knife could have been responsible for several trips to the emergency room had the knife not been dulled from box-cutting. LesserBlackDog chimed in with his appreciation for the Kershaw Leek in blackwash finish, with idvsego, thedrake and shockfinder all commenting how much they appreciated the Kershaw Skyline knife. minty007 shared his love of the Swiss Army micro and Mad Martigan brought an eBay drool-worthy knife to the attention of the group. Have a favourite knife? Post an image and let the group know. Uniqlo Ultra Light Down Parka or Jacket?WVUDave had forum members thinking of winter and warm jackets by asking if he should purchase the Uniqlo parka or jacket. mark4 didn’t feel the Unqlo jacket really qualified as a parka, although his posting did reference the fact he’s used to a pretty cold climate. Pepetito said he’d ordered the parka for a goof, BillN said he had experience with both jackets and if he could do it over again he’d go with the hooded parka, and .brian. decided to order the jacket for wearing to his son’s hockey games. For a full review by this very site, click here. Black Friday Purchases Anyone? With Black Friday now come and gone, DocDave decided to find out what the forum members had had their eyes on. goodwillhinton shared with the group his purchase of a Barbour Bedale that was on sale, JBawick purchased some sweaters from Spier & Mackay, TMann said he’s looking to pick up a new leather jacket, LesserBlackDog indicated he’s looking forward to his new Rolex Oyster Perpetual arriving, and mebejoseph said he’s looking for an 1818 suit from Brooks Brothers. A good discussion was had on the thread pertaining to a) enjoying the clothes currently owned and b) the perils of wearing turtleneck sweaters. Then AlejandroLopez mentioned he’s looking forward to purchasing a new peacoat and 77Pat talked about purchasing a new Herman Miller computer chair. Did you score a great deal? Share your purchase on Threads. Looking for some advice, direction, or just to connect with some cool guys? Maybe you have your own ‘do I trust my wife’ story to share. The Cap: Nordstrom 100% Cashmere Hat in Charcoal Heather – $46.56 ($69.50). A fair price, ships and returns for free, and Nordstrom house-brand stuff is usually well worth the price. I’ve found that a charcoal hat (not black, not navy, not ivory) is the color of winter hat that seems to go well with most everything. The Belt: 1901 Dublin Horween Leather Belt – $69.50. Treat yo self to some fine leather goods. Made in the USA From Horween’s famous Dublin leather, which is a cowhide that’s been treated with the same (or similar?) mixture to Cordovan, making it super deep, rich, and interesting compared to flat and bland leathers. The Scarf: Barbour Fair Isle 100% Wool Scarf – $49.97 ($99). A little spendy, even on sale, but it’s all wool and Barbour knows a thing or two about heritage fall/winter wear. The Gloves: Banana Republic Wool-Blend Snap Glove – $53.70 ($89.50). These mixed media types of gloves, especially the wool/leather options, are a perfect dressed-down glove that also looks just fine with a topcoat and suit. The Boots: Made in Italy 1901 Stevens Waterproof Chukkas – $124.95. A basic suede chukka that’s made in Italy AND waterproof? For $125? Not bad at all. Ships and returns free since it’s made and sold by Nordstrom. The Jeans: Levi’s 514 Straight Fit in Tumbled Rigid – $34.99. Standard Dappered. On top of that, we offer them in Vermeil, which is heavy yellow gold plated Sterling Silver as well as thick Rose Gold plated. Because we are all about quality, these cufflinks are solid and weigh in at just under 24 grams / just under an ounce. That’s more than twice as much as regular cufflinks made of silver or gold and once you hold these masterpieces in your hand, you know what we are talking about. The hand-carved rope monkey fist knot cufflinks are based on the nautical monkey fist knot. We made one end larger, and the other end smaller so you can wear them for years to come. This is an heirloom piece of jewelry that is classic and quality so you can pass it on to your children. Within the last few decades, the variety and elegance that once existed vanished in favor of plain black and brown gloves. During the heyday of classic menswear in the 1930s, no well-dressed man would have worn black gloves. Instead, beige, yellow, gray, burgundy, dark blue, green and tan gloves with button closures (often hand stitched) would have been the gloves of choice. To counter such tristesse in the modern glove world, Fort Belvedere offers gloves that combine functional fit and comfort with the elegance of the bygone era. Choose from a curated selection of elegant colors and materials such as peccary gloves, lamb suede leather or lamb nappa. No matter if you have small hands with short fingers or large hands with long fingers. Our 7 sizes work for 99.5% of all men. These exquisite gloves are hand-sewn and full of detail and we offer them lined in cashmere and alpaca for colder climates and unlined for warmer climates. A fedora is a classic hat that still suits modern sensibilities of style, even though it has been a winter staple of well-dressed men since the Duke of Windsor popularized the style in the mid-1920’s. A fedora is an excellent way to maintain a classic look even in the depths of winter. For a more modern look, choose a narrower brim such as this Fedora from Borsalino, an Italian company that has been producing rabbit fur felt hats since 1857. For a more classic look, select a standard width brim fur felt Fedora, also from Borsalino. ![]() Folded, double sided edges that go all the way to the edge with sewn card slots – Fort Belvedere Wallet Fort Belvedere WalletsAlthough we live in a highly digitized world, old world items such as a nice wallet have a tremendous impact on the impression you make on other people. Holiday Gift Guide for Gentlemen published first on https://ift.tt/2u2EAdy via Tumblr Holiday Gift Guide for Gentlemen Tis the season. And by now you’ve probably been walloped over the head by 82,000 gift guides. So what’s a few more? Instead of doing a highly generalized, throw-everything-against-the-digital-wall gift guide, we’ll be breaking it up by category. Gifts for the guys who suit up a lot. Or the rugged type. Or the guy who’s really into shoes. Etc. We’ll cover all those, and hopefully a few more in the coming days. Toddy Gear Smart Cloths – $9.99Microfiber cleaning cloths that can, depending on the pattern, also double as a pocket square. Smudges on watch crystals happen, and a Toddy Gear cloth is a great way to clean your watch face. Unlike thinner cleaning cloths (like the ones that come with some sunglasses), these are thicker and more substantial. One side is for cleaning, the other is for polishing. Much easier to use and makes the job much faster. Their true intended purpose is for smartphones/tablets/laptops, but they work just fine on watch crystals too. Longitude – $12.75Solving the Longitude Problem was one of the greatest achievements of human kind… yet most of us have never heard the story and/or don’t understand quite what the issue used to be. Y’know how fancy mechanical watches that have been certified to be accurate within a few seconds a day get to carry the word “chronometer” on them? Right. The first one of those was invented by a guy named John Harrison, and his invention changed the world. Because up until then, even the most experience sailors had no way of telling their longitude at sea. To do that, you’d need an accurate time keeping device. And just try putting an old pendulum based, grandfather clock on a rolling ship, and see what happens. That lack of knowing where they were at sea killed a ton of people, and it slowed the spread of exploration and commerce. It’s a story of discovery, utter nonsensical drama, and political intrigue (and stupid infighting). It’s short, it’s punchy, and it’s a great read for anyone who loves timepieces. Watch Repair Kit – $15.99Maybe not jewelry shop quality in terms of the tools, but still, not bad either for the minimal price. Comes with spring bars too, and those tiny jewelers screw drivers also come in handy when it comes to sunglasses. Maratac Silicone Watch Strap w/ Deployant Buckle – $18Perfect for putting on an old, somewhat forgotten sport watch. Flexible silicone strap that you cut to the desired length, and connects with a satisfying snap thanks to its deployant (or deployment, whatever you want to call it, I don’t care) clasp. Great for the guy who doesn’t like stainless steel bands, but wants something that can handle sweat and water and… whatever else you can throw at it. Two sizes (20mm and 22mm) and a few colors in each to pick from. Watch Box / Watch Organizer – $33.97Give that watch collection a home, as opposed to having timepieces strewn about, loose, ready to be knocked onto the floor. This particular model is solid wood with a felt bottom, so even if it does slide around a little, it won’t go scratching up whatever it sits on. There are tons of options out there. Just read the reviews before you dive in. A Man and his Watch – $20.55Multiple things can be true. This book is, at times, insufferably silly (they’re just wristwatches), yet it’s also incredibly cool. It’s a coffee table book that explores individual time pieces, their owners, and the stories behind them. Came out last year and still quite popular. A nice “Beater” Watch
Dependable, good looking enough, and the type of thing you take with you on a quick trip or wear on the weekends when you’re knocking about, and don’t want to risk damage to a prized timepiece. If this thing does get a scratch in the crystal or somehow gets dropped in a lake and goes to hell? It won’t cause the tears to flow. Suggested picks above should cover most price points. Retro Walnut Bluetooth Speaker – $59.99Look, if he’s wearing an antiquated bit of technology on his wrist, he probably likes mixing the old with the new. So, this will do the trick. Not huge. Just over five inches long by 3 inches tall. Comes with an AM/FM radio. Puts off a nice warm glow from the dial when in use. Great for listening to podcasts or the shipping forecast pre falling asleep. A nice Leather Strap (NATO style especially)There are leather NATO straps, and then there are leather NATO straps. You’re looking for the latter. The fun thing about a really nice leather NATO, is that if you’ve got more than one, they can be super easy to swap out. (No spring bar tool needed!) Shown above (and image credit to them) is the Horween Color #8 Military Strap from Worn & Wound. Made in the USA. Cost is $75. Watch Luggage
Y’know what also works? Shoving your watch down into a shoe and then stuffing extra socks on top of it. But… there is a risk of leather to leather stink transfer. And then it might rattle about, fall out, etc. But neither of those are really likely scenarios. So, watch luggage is inherently a bit fussy. But some guys don’t want to take the risk. A Rugged, Dependable, Automatic watch
Usually a diver or a field style, these get worn a LOT in our current smart-casual to more casual culture. Make it a rugged, go-anywhere, do-anything watch, and it can double as a nicer alternative to the “beater” watches already suggested. A Cool Clock, or, some other Clock-like Instrument
Clocks. Thermometers. Barometers. Calendars. All items that provide us information of which we could easily find on our phone. But your phone also tells the time. So… if he’s a watch wearer, perhaps he pursues other avenues than smartphones to get this kind of info. Bluetooth Gramaphone – $279.99Same theory as that little walnut bluetooth speaker, only $220 more expensive. But you get a big metal horn on top! Yeah, they’re stupid pricey. But they’re also pretty cool looking. A trip to the Prime Meridian & the Royal Observatory and National Maritime Museum in GreenwichPrices obviously vary on this one depending on how far you have to go and how long you’re gonna stay. London is not a cheap place to stay either. But John Harrison and his Marine Chronometer(s) changed the world. The H4 is a must see (if it’s currently on display?) for the true fan of time pieces. His “Grail” WatchFor the extra, extra nice. Chances are he’s mentioned what he has his eye on. Also, get it insured. This takes some planning. Maybe this is a few years down the line and saving/smart decisions will have to be made. But, well, for the ladies… how much did that engagement ring cost again? The Dappered Gift Guide for… The Watch Guy published first on https://medium.com/@CostumeCorner via Tumblr The Dappered Gift Guide for… The Watch Guy ![]() Licia Luchini: Bespoke knitwear, Florence published first on https://medium.com/@CostumeCorner via Tumblr Licia Luchini: Bespoke knitwear, Florence 48HOURS = 48% off most full priced stuff (exp 12/5)NOBODY MOVE. J. Crew’s website seems stable. For now. And that wasn’t the case on Black Friday – Cyber Monday. And while this deal isn’t quite as good (2% less of a discount, not as much stock), you guys have sent in a few tips about this one, so… off we go with some picks. Fingers crossed their servers don’t burst into flames. Big thanks to John P. for the tip! Wallace & Barnes English Wool KNIT Sportcoat – $170.56 ($328)Check out the close up of that knit. English wool from Moon Mills. Looks like a super high quality alternative to their Lambswool chore jacket which has long since sold out. The year of the sweater jacket (or the swacket) continues to be strong. Timberland x J.Crew GT Scramble Hiking Boots – $91 ($175)Just over ninety bucks for a vintage-inspired, but still highly functional, gore-tex waterproof boot? That seems oddly good. Breathable too thanks to that gore-tex. Ludlow Shawl-Collar Velvet Blazer – $154.96 ($298)Navy (on the left) has plenty of sizes left, while the forest green is scattered at best. That deep red cabernet color? Long gone. New Year’s Eve is fast approaching. Gloves in Cable-Knit Wool – $30.94 ($59.50) or Tartan Wool/Leather – $50.96 ($98)Gloves are a lot like sunglasses. Some of us can hold onto them without trouble, others leave them in every train, cab, plane, Airbnb, etc… that we step into. If it was socially acceptable, some of us might start tying strings to our gloves like we had with our mittens when we were six years old. Slim American Pima Cotton OCBD – $36.14 ($69.50)A classic OCBD that comes in a true slim fit and is made from American grown Supima cotton. Tons of colors to pick from. Yes, they’re made overseas, but the reviews are solid. Are there cheaper OCBD options out there? Absolutely. But not many now that they’re half off. Oar Stripe Italian Leather Derbys – $154.96 ($298)The bluchers of their new Italian Leather collection. Goodyear welted. One fifty-five. Not bad for a basic shoe that’s about the shoe-iest shoe to ever shoe. Rugged Merino Wool Shawl-Collar Pullover in Heather or Donegal – $50.96 ($98)Four color options. Basically the same sweater (at least it looks to be from here?) but one is considered to be heathered, and the other is donegal. Beats me. CLASSIC Blazer in Herringbone English Tweed – $154.96 ($298)These always make the annual best sportcoats of fall post and for good reason. Softer tweed than what you might be envisioning. Less construction too. Half lined. Shown above is a 40R on 5’10″/ 185. Full review here. Double-Sided Cashmere Scarf – $61.36 ($118)Solid on one side, micro windowpane (check?) on the other. All cashmere. Leather Oar Stripe Tote – $154.96 ($298)Unisex. A great gift for the gear lugging dude (or yourself,) or, something for the lady in your life. As someone who carries in a briefcase, a duffel bag (gym = early AM for me), and sometimes a tote (products to review and or giveaway to you guys…) I can appreciate something like this. Abingdon Waxed Canvas Weekender – $118.56 ($228)A favorite that was out of stock at one point during the Black Friday – Cyber Monday corridor. Extremely well reviewed. And not some dinky thing either. 17 1/2″H x 26″W x 9 1/4″D = over four thousand cubic inches of space. So, it has room. Seems to go out of stock a lot. Rugged Merino Wool/Nylon Heather Crewneck Sweater – $36.14 ($69.50)A basic that you’ve got to admit is at a pretty solid price. Merino wool + nylon blend. Lots of colors. Dock Peacoat with Thinsulate – $154.96 ($298)J. Crew’s take on the classic Peacoat, now down for around Army/Navy surplus store prices. And these can compete with the real thing. Good wool, a bit of insulation, those hand warmer pockets are a huge benefit, and it’s slightly longer than far too many peacoats that chop the tail short. Stretch Secret Wash Shirt in Small Dot Print – $30.94 ($59.50)It has to be said again. Micro dots (not big blobby cartoon polka dots), are a great way to break away from the tyranny of stripes. Made in their secret wash, stretch fabric. Oar Stripe Leather Weekender – $206.96 ($398)I don’t know how the leather quality is on these things. Just one review so far, and it’s encouraging, but know that in the past J. Crew has been a little hit or miss on leather accessories. Oar Stripe Canvas Weekender Bag – $128.94 ($248)A less expensive version of the all leather option. Less leather will do that. Aran Fisherman Cable Sweater – $102.96 ($198)More of a classic fit. I’m guessing any fisherman worth his salt would smack you upside the head with a mackerel if you asked if he had ever worn skinny jeans. And while fisherman probably don’t shop at J. Crew, J. Crew has nailed the traditional Aran Fisherman’s sweater look here. 100% wool. Has a Hemingway look about it. Wallace & Barnes Cableknit Crewneck Sweater – $57.20 ($110)ORRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr… There’s this. Not bad for an all wool, classic cable, not-quite-fisherman’s sweater from their upgraded Wallace and Barnes line. For being such a simple piece, this thing has a lot of potential. Windowpane Cashmere Scarf – $50.96 ($98)A lot of brands push solid cashmere scarfs this time of year. And that’s fine and understandable. But it doesn’t take much of a pattern to set a scarf apart. And here’s the proof. Cashmere Seedstitch Beanie – $41.34 ($79.50)Speaking of small details that can set something apart, check out that stitch. All cashmere once again. Field Mechanic Jacket – $102.96 ($198)A cotton, 3 season (or year-round if you live in a warm climate) classic. One of the better reviewed items from J. Crew’s line up. Also available in blue. Letterman Jacket in Wool – $118.56 ($228)What do you call a wool, colorblocked bomber? That’d be a letterman jacket. No letters necessary here either. Also available in a burgundy option. 14-Wale Cords in Slim, Straight, or Athletic Fit in Pacific Navy – $41.34 ($79.50)Yes you can find cords for less (see GAP), but some of you are pretty tied to J. Crew’s pant fits. All three fits available here. Lots of colors to pick from. Cotton with a bit of elastane for stretch. Ludlow Unconstructed Wool/Cotton Blazer – $99 ($198)No lining here except for the sleeves. A little less stuffy compared to a traditional, hard shouldered, gold buttoned navy blazer. Full review here. Just the “galvanized iron” shade left with any size selection. Merino Wool Wide Placket V-Neck Cardigan Sweater – $46.54 ($89.50)Big fan of J. Crew’s merino cardigans. Nice material, available in classic or slim fit, and unlike much of the competition, there’s a good sized placket here. Thin cardigan plackets can look a little feminine sometimes. Just wish they made them in more colors. You can have it in any color you’d like… as long as it’s navy. Ludlow Garment Duffle Bag – $128.96 ($248)Cotton canvas body, and unzips/unfurls so you can get your suit or jackets (and shoes and what not) to and fro while minimizing creasing and wrinkling risks. Yes, the zippers weren’t designed the best (read the reviews) but attaching a couple of pulls should solve that problem. And most bags like this will run you a heck of a lot more money. The J. Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. This one is for the somewhat dressed down affairs that might be out, or, might be at someone’s house. The key is to keep things tailored but relaxed. A knit sportcoat and a dot print button down is the perfect play here. The Sportcoat: BRItalian Wool Knit Motion Stretch Sportcoat – $178.80 ($298). Currently one of the best things Banana Republic makes, and they’ve been getting a lot right lately. Extremely nice Italian wool fabric that’s easy to move about it in and breathes well. Terrific shade of burgundy, perfect for the holidays (but not just the holidays). The Shirt: Goodthreads Slim-fit Polka Dot Chambray Shirt – $30. The perfect way to avoid a boring (but still plenty acceptable) white or blue OCBD. Chambray with dots. Perfect. The Coat: UNIQLO Seamless Down Coat – $129.90 ($159.90). Long enough to protect your sportcoat tail, but functional enough that you’ll be comfortable and dry if you have to dig your car out of a parking spot. The Watch: Dan Henry 1939 Chrono – $220 The Belt: GAP Basic Leather Belt – $39.95. The perfect belt for this kind of outfit, and has been, for at least ten years. The Boots: 1901 Brooks Chelsea Boot in Charcoal Suede – $124.95. Grey suede boots are easier to wear than you might think. If you live in a place that gets nasty weather, you might want to weatherproof these with some suede spray (do it a few days before and let the smell air out once you’re done). Not a chelsea guy? No problem. Try these chukkas in grey oiled suede instead. Ships and returns for free since it’s Nordstrom. The Jeans: Amazon Goodthreads Selvedge Jeans – $50. Available in multiple fits. Just a bit of stretch woven in for comfort. Full review here. Or, whatever dark wash jeans you favor. The Scarf: Banana Republic Merino Wool Scarf in Deep Hunter Green – $47.70 ($79.50). All merino wool with an interesting knit at a very fair price. The Gloves: Hestra Gabriel Zip Suede Glove – $64.97 ($130). Hestra knows how to make gloves, and while these are slightly off the style beaten path, they do it well. Sorta like wintry drivers? The Host/Hostess Gift (if applicable): Josh Cellars Cab – $12.99. A favorite. Someone has invited you over to share in their walls & roof, their food, and probably their booze. Say thanks with a bottle of wine that outperforms its price. A rich one that’s still plenty drinkable. Part of the Joseph Carr family. Coming up tomorrow: A style scenario for a a much more dressed down/laid back get together. Need something fancier than the above? That was yesterday.
